K2 serotype Klebsiella pneumoniae causing a liver abscess associated with infective endocarditis.
Klebsiella pneumoniae primary liver abscess (KPLA) is an emerging disease that is associated with distant septic complications. We report the first case of KPLA associated with infective endocarditis. The K. pneumoniae strain was a hypermucoid K2 serotype carrying the rmpA virulence-associated gene.
متن کاملKlebsiella pneumoniae liver abscess
Klebsiella pneumoniae liver abscess is no longer fatal but causes catastrophic disabilities. To prevent severe complications, early diagnosis is essential. Gram stain and string test are important for early diagnosis.
متن کاملGenetic determinants of capsular serotype K1 of Klebsiella pneumoniae causing primary pyogenic liver abscess.
BACKGROUND Primary pyogenic liver abscess (PLA) caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae is an emerging infectious disease. Capsular serotype K1 and the magA gene have been reported to be associated with this disease. METHODS The prevalence of magA was determined by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The sequences of the magA flanking region were completed by inverse PCR and direct sequencing. Serotypin...
متن کاملDetection and Analysis of Klebsiella pneumoniae causing Liver Abscess
In recent years, Klebsiella pneumoniae strains have become the second largest bacteria after the E. coli in China causing community-acquired infections and nosocomial infection [1]. The K. pneumoniae strains commonly recognized by clinicians and microbiologists are termed classic K. pneumoniae (cKP). Such strains are notorious for their capacity to cause nosocomial infections Detection and Anal...
متن کاملLiver abscess associated with severe myopathy caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae serotype K1 in Romania.
Liver abscess was diagnosed in a man presenting with fever, chills and severe myopathy. The K. pneumoniae isolated from blood cultures belonged to the K1 serotype. The patient responded favourably to percutaneous drainage of the abscess and antibiotics. This is the first documented report of Klebsiella pneumoniae liver abscess syndrome (KLAS) described in Romania and may indicate the emergence ...
